Transitions Later Before
Books can be transient. Of course many precious old volumes exist in the great libraries of the world. Others serve more limited a purpose and might hopefully be read before they are altered, burned or otherwise discarded.Words have liberated themselves from engravings, print editions or handwritten documents and are disspersed digitally now.

Books can be transient. Of course many precious old volumes exist in the great libraries of the world. In this series of photographs I am interested in the various forms of word dissemination at the intersection of the real world and illusion. I am photographing young women in situations where their communication worlds have become virtual experiences, where only a fine line separates the real from the surreal. The sitters interact with books or written texts either in their traditional printed form, digital formats or in their dismembered state. I incorporate other written forms of communication such as symbols, letters, numbers, words , emojis, graffiti and more. My creative process includes making many of the objects seen in my photographs, such as the masks, hats, dresses, little books, blindfolds, telescopes and other pieces. Found objects are also part of the scenes which I set up to tell the story.
In the words of Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges, every single thing becomes a word in a language that Someone or Something writes down continuously in a never-ending scribble, which is the history of the world. In the surreal universe of my photographs, where the borders of time and space are eliminated, I explore enigma, happy accident and the perpetual puzzling moment. this group of photographs I am interested in the intersection of the real world and illusion.
